Hi Jaina, Apologies I’ve not been in touch with news but I’m still in hospital although hoping to be released this evening! I ended up going 2 weeks over due but pleased to announce I now have a beautiful baby boy called Noah weighing 7lb, 11oz.
I’m afraid my birth wishes weren’t anywhere close to how I imagined I ended up having to be induced which I didn’t want but they had concerns over baby’s lack of movement towards the end. I came into be induced last Tuesday and had various methods of drugs to try and get me going. I was contracting loads but unfortunately I just wasn’t dilating very much, despite all my ball work, circles, pelvic floor, elevator, cafetière breathing!
All of these methods did help me mentally get through 3 days of constant contractions though otherwise I don’t know how I would have coped!
I finally got dilated enough for them to try and break my waters but even that took 3 attempts as they said they were really thick, my baby had obviously barricaded himself in there!
I managed to take a high dose of the drip to try and make me dilate more by just breathing and having gas and air, the midwife said, “I was hardcore and super calm and she had never seen anyone take such a high level on gas and air.”
So all the yoga must have done something!
I found golden thread breath at this stage invaluable! Unfortunately though as they upped the hormone drop even more baby’s heartbeat started dropping and I ended up having to have an emergency c-section. Whilst this was the last thing I wanted I knew I had to do what was best for baby. I’m still in hospital now as Noah has struggled to get the hang of feeding initially, being a section baby he was quite mucusy for the first few days so had no interest in feeding. He’s made up for it the last few days though and we are hoping to be released this evening! Being on a shared ward for so long has really tested my inner calm but I’ve got through it with lots of deep breathing and using your BRAIN method to help me come to terms with still being in here! I’ve also already started doing some ‘painting the ceiling’ (whilst being very careful of my section wound) but I’ve found it’s really helped with back pain brought on by lots of breastfeeding baby! Sorry for the long message but I hope you find it useful/interesting! I cannot wait to start coming to your mum and baby yoga with Noah but obviously might take me a bit longer having had the section. Hope you are well and glad I found your Alderley class.
See you soon Leanne xxx
